I'm between 5'3" and 5'4" and before I started working out, I weighed 115, and now I've gained 15 pounds and am up to 130...and it's rising. I don't really know why. I eat between 1,000 and 1,500 calories every day (sometimes less than that). I use the elliptical or treadmill for at least 30 mins every other day and on the in between days do strength training or yoga. What should I do? I can't seem to find anything that will help me?

My body size has stayed basically the same - my thighs have gotten bigger, though. And I'm really unhappy with how my abs look...it's almost as though I've gotten flabbier and it makes no sense.

My guess--you're eating way too little. You're eating 1000-1200 calories a day you said when at your age you probably need waayyyy more, particularly given how much you're working out. In effect, it sounds like you're starving your body and it doesn't like it, so is holding onto to whatever you do happen to be feeding it.

I also highly suggest seeing a doctor, as that kind of weight gain could be tied to some medical issue as well.

Have you started any different medication? Sometimes that can cause weight gain.

could be hormones, stress, diabetes, anything.

if its your thighs or in a certain area, that could be a clue.

same thing happened to me and im working to take it off. i know, it sucks. the more you stress, the more it wants to stay!

are you eating your exercise calories....in the beginning when I read we have to eat our exercise calories I was like no....I am not, but realized later that it works and that I needed to get my mind away from the old way of thinking (burn more than you eat was of thinking)

I know that ellipticals lie. It gives a ballpark for what you could burn but I found that it was WAY off. It might be that it is overestimating your burn.

I bought a heart rate monitor and it changed my exercise life.
