Anyone know a good ab workout that you can do at home if you have a bad back?

I think something like pilates is good, it's on the floor and builds strength to the core of your body. But be careful and don't overdo it, especially if it does not feel right, modify to make it less strenuous, or don't do the certain moves, like with any exercise in your condition.
    hope it helps a bit.

When I had a bad back a year ago, my fitness instructor told me to strengthen the back muscles, and also do a stretch when you lay on your back in bad, keeping shoulders flat and in place, gradually move the bent in knees legs to one side and try to pull the top knee a bit further, and then repeat on the other side.
Both strengthening it and stretching helped me literally overnight.
Again, only do it carefully, and only to the extent while it feels comfortable, you really don;t want to injure yourself with the exercise.
    Good luck!

oh be careful, and I'd ask your doctor about that too...I know my back was out a few years back and I tried some floor and stretches that I thought would be helpful but it made it worse....:frown:

course mine was a pull sort of, if you have constant back issues I'm sure they could recommend some good ones for you!

    good luck w/ it!
    and sorry about your back!
    hugs,

Do stability ball exercises work? I don't have to worry about my back, but I'm sure there are some good ones on Core Secrets (or other ball work outs)
