Brown Rice Question

Ok- I have been doing this for some time now.....yeah me...but with that said, maybe someone can answer this question.

Brown Basmati Rice

1/4 dry = 1/2 cup cooked or 1 cup cooked? Short of actually cooking 1/4 and measuring ( which I always forget to do while getting dinner on the table) Which is it? Makes a big difference calorie wise.

I have read conflicting info on the net.
