Did you know that California green beans have CARBS??? WTF? When did this happen???
There I was near my 1200 calories after eating like a saint today, and THANK goodness I stopped with only 1 cup of green beans! I guess I'm just shocked that I really didn't eat "anything" today and I don't have any calories left over for lite yogurt tonight.

Jog in place or jump rope, take a walk around the block - then you will "earn" calories for the yogurt.0

I have nothing really to add, but here is a little note. Can't have you upset. :bigsmile:0

From what I've read, green beans have a fair amount of natural sugar, which accounts for the carbs, and it's probably why they're one of the very few vegis I love!!
Still, they're not that bad, and very low in calories!0 -
The cannot be TOO bad for you!
Green beans, while quite low in calories (just 43.75 calories in a whole cup), are loaded with enough nutrients to not only power up the Jolly Green Giant, but to put a big smile on his face. Green beans are an excellent source of vitamin C, vitamin K and manganese. Plus green beans are very good source of vitamin A (notably through their concentration of carotenoids including beta-carotene), dietary fiber, potassium, folate, and iron. And, green beans are a good source of magnesium, thiamin, riboflavin, copper, calcium, phosphorous, protein, omega-3 fatty acids and niacin.
Fat has about 9 calories per gram, Carbs have about 5 calories per gram, protein is about 2 or 3 calories per gram... If they dont contain too many calories, they cannot have THAT many carbs.
How many carbs do you think they have?
I use the above rules when I think that people may have put the wrong information onto this site.0 -

Yup, I agree. The benefits sure outweigh the bad. So many people do not understand that you can become overweight from eating too much healthy food, too.
I hope you are feeling better now.0 -
So much goodness packed into one little Fire Ball! ~smiling~
Calories are needed to provide energy so the body functions properly. The number of calories in a food depends on the amount of energy the food provides.
Fat: 1 gram = 9 calories
Protein: 1 gram = 4 calories
Carbohydrates: 1 gram = 4 calories
Alcohol: 1 gram = 7 calories
Hope that explains it a little better about the green beans...0 -
Nothing a few jumping jacks can't cure! At least it was green beans and not a snickers bar right? And ok..what's with the fireballs.. Now I want one hahahaa!0

~Laughing~ Fireballs = Cinnamon Goodness!
Someone sent me a box in Afghanistan of 1000 Fireballs, Gum, Cigars, Magazines. Everyone in my shop thought it was thee PERFECT box! My childhood addiction returned times 100!0 -
I'm glad some people like fire balls! Yuck! Haha!
When I was little my Mom used to eat them to stay awake late at night so she could study... I guess they worked cause she passed every test! :glasses:

-
OH NO. :noway: I love green beans. Eat them almost everyday for a quick snack at work.0
-
I think what I hate the most is that lite yogurt would have been about the same calories and carbs. It just felt like a waste!!!
Hey, thanks Shorerider for the info on the carbs/sugar for green beans. I really do not know enough about carbs. Hokay...I KNOW about carbs, but not how they are burned, how to predict the amount in each food and such. Maybe I need to pick up a book on carbs for dummies.0 -
Unfortunately, everthing has carbs except for flesh and fat... and water.... well, and diet drinks0

I buy the Sam's Club container of Fireballs for my husband's work. They are perfect...He hates them so he doesn't eat them...They all come by for them and now he doesn't have to chase everyone down all the time for things.
I like them for when I have munchie cravings. One every several days cures me. YUM!

Deployed, I end up with like 2 or 3 a day!
I like giving them to people at meetings! (ESPECIALLY the Afghans who LOVE candy, but have no idea what they are). One of the first times I did that, I had everyone either coughing or wanting to spit them out!0 -
Tim!!! Are you trying to cause a national incident? LOL
I sent those to my husband and friends when they go over. It's a total "double dog dare" must have. How funny!0 -

Ok.. The Fireballs and Gum were included in the pre 12 to 14 years old. The magazines... while they soon appeared thanks to a friends older brother. Didnt have my first cigar until I was 18. ~laughing~
Might as well succumb to the beast! Go to Sam's and get the big container! ~wink~0 -

It really was a great moment in the history of meetings. The Afghan General I mentored would always give us chai with a little candy that was like a bit o honey. I go there one day and throw out these hotter than usual fireballs. My general had tears. My boss (Navy Cmdr) couldnt keep hers in her mouth. The meeting had to actually be stopped for a few minutes!0
