Ok, yes this is another exercise calorie question. I know I should eat my exercise calories. I'm not trying NOT to eat them, its just that today I'm about 350 calories under my goal after exercise and I"m just not hungry.

Do I eat even though I'm not hungry? Just have a nutritious snack? Or just go off what my tummy is telling me? Sorry if this has been asked and answered, I just didn't see this exact question anywhere.

  • I am in your same situation! I burned off 800 calories today so now I'm a little over 400 calories under my goal, but I'm not hungry. I'm not sure what to do either, because I know that you're supposed eat back your calories but I'm full!
  • I heard you should still eat even if you're not hungry. At least every 3 hours to keep your metabolism working. Have a little 100-cal snack if you don't have the appetite.

In general, you should eat your exercise calories. But, if there are a couple days a month where you just can't, you don't have to force yourself. Instead of trying to cram in all those calories after you exercise, try to do the same exercises every week. That way you can estimate how much you'll burn and you can work those calories into your breakfast, lunch and snacks earlier in the day.
  • Well you should listen to your body because you dont want to be miserable and make yourself sick. Hope this helps.

Thanks everybody! I think I will try to do small snacks, but not really force it. Lol, gives me an excuse to eat a handful of nuts or a clementine! I have recently developed an obsession with Planters Digestive Health fruit and nut mix. Sooo yummy!

If youre not hungry dont eat is my thinking. I eat small meals so Im always ready for a snack about 2-3 hours after.

I found that I had to eat to lose the weight. I ate my calories and my exercise calories everyday. I even upped my base calories, based on advice from people here. I ate every two hours so that I didn't get hungry, once I was hungry good choices where much harder to make. listening to my body is what brought me to MFP, so I was happy to trust the site. But that was my journey, you will find what works for you.

Good luck on your journey, I wish you all the best.
