I noticed that the "calories burned" for a particular activity are different for me than another member. If using the numbers that are calculated on the website, does it take ito account current weight and height?
A friend of mine picked "kickboxing" and it shows it burns 930 calories, when I picked "kickboxing" it shows 682 calories burned.

Yes, it does take into account your current weight along with your height, age, and gender0

YES it does depend on height weight, etc for how many calories it says you burned... but be careful, this machine tends to overestimate calories burned... so try to base your suggested calorie intake for the day without including the exercise if at all possible.0

I don't trust what it says for calories burned at all. I have a HRM so I go by that. I found that it was always over estimating my calories burned for any activity (the machines at the gym also over estimated). It's very misleading, especially if you eat some of the calories granted back to you for exercise. IMHO.0

I think the numbers given by the machines and MFP overestimate calorie burn. I use my heart rate monitor to get a closer estimate.0

Remember a calorie is measurement of energy. Just like pounds is measurement of weight. They are the constants in an equation.
If two people do the exact same excersise and put fourth the same effort. The heavier person will burn more calories.0 -
I keep reading about people saying that the website and machines overestimate their calorie burn but, according to what I get on my HRM, the machines and website actually underestimate mine. I don't get it? Thoughts, anyone?0

I think MFP underestimated for me in the beginning, which was good thing because I didn't eat those calories. Then I started using a heart rate monitor and things slowed down but I like knowing really what I burn....it's the numbers nerd in me.0
