Hey everyone! I just wanted to stop in and introduce myself to group. My name is Rhonda. I am starting over... again... trying to lose this same 50 pounds that I have been trying to lose for the last many years. I guess the issues started way back in my mid 40s when I quit smoking and gained 35 pounds. Over the years, I have lost and I have gained it all back. Two years ago, I broke the 200 pound barrier going the wrong way, and since that time, I have yo-yo-ed at + or - 5 pounds around that mark.

I have read and tried almost every diet book on the market and some that aren't. I have tried online sites. I have taken supplements. I have created elaborate spreadsheets for counting calories and I have controlled portions; then, I have given up on all of it for periods of time. I have bought gadgets and exercise machines, which sit in boxes or collect dust. I am currently a member at a local gym, where I have been a member for over a year. I can count on one hand how many times I have been there to work out (and one of those times was today).

I don't mean this message to be a downer for anyone. I just want you to know that I am finished. I once heard the following truism: "if you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten." I don't want what I have always gotten. It is time for me to do my life differently.

So today, I am making a commitment to DO MY LIFE DIFFERENTLY. At the moment, I am reading a book that focuses on how to set goals. This time, I am setting specific goals first. Because I have always been too embarrassed to talk to people about my weight, I am telling people who care about me what I am doing and asking them to support me as I hold myself accountable. This is where I am today...and it is more good enough.

BTW, the picture I posted on this site is about 18 years old. It is my inspiration. This is the woman I am and I want to be again... an active, outdoor enthusiast with energy, curiosity, and courage. Thanks for listening.
