today i've eaten when i've been hungry, i had to have a late lunch as i was busy but had a fairly big lunch (you can see it on my food log) and so only had a bowl of cereal for dinner, and that was only to give me the energy for an hour long zumba class - i wasn't actually hungry. :/
i've burned 740 calories today approximately - an estimated 600 calories at a pretty intense zumba class (not sure if this is right, got information from googling it!) and an estimated 140 calories doing an exercise DVD (again, info from internet!).
but that means, because i didn't have a big dinner, my net calorie intake for today is only 391! it's now 10:10pm and i don't want to eat anything else.
will this slow down my weight loss? will it affect my metabolism?

If you are hungry then eat.

    If not don't eat.

Your body is very good at telling you what it needs. Starvation mode isn't triggered by an exact calorie deficit number.
It is triggered when your body is telling you that it's hungry and you don't feed it.

I eat late at night all the time and it doesn't really hamper my weight loss. I do though try to stick to simple whole foods that are easy to digest fruit, vegetables, lean meat, and stay away from the complex carbs in bread and such.

I have this problem all the time...I try not to eat when I'm not hungry (my problem is that I eat when I'm bored), I figure if my body isn' t craving it it probably doesn't need it...

It won't make any difference if it's just one day. But, on days you know you're going to exercise you should estimate how many calories you'll burn and spread those calories out over all your meals and snacks. Your body needs those calories to function properly but you should have to cram them all in at the end of the night. Just make sure you have a nice big breakfast and add in a couple of snacks to help use up those exercise cals.
