Hey!

I'm trying to stock up my kitchen with healthy foods and ingredients. I haven't lived in America in 5 years, so cooking here is a bit new to me all over again and am not really sure what ot load up on.

So, I'm curious--what are some ingredients that you can't live without? Staples for a healthy diet?

    - Chicken
    - Hummus & whole wheat crackers or whole wheat pita bread (lately I love the crackers though!) -- the lower calorie option would be to dip carrots or celery in the hummus
    - Some kind of healthy bread, whether it's Orowheat whole wheat breads, Thomas whole wheat english muffins or their whole wheat bagel thins...I have to have my bread!!

I also use Agave Nectar (it's not a calorie free sweetner but it is more glycemic friendly and I use less). Salsa is great to keep around too!

    spinach...

i buy some at almost every grocery run. great to use in place of iceburg lettuce.. much more fiber. also it tastes good sauteed. and i stir some into almost all my veggie dishes. yum!

pasta, too. low on the glycemic index and ridiculously versatile. :)
