When do you log your food?

I usually log at the end of the day but I was thinking if I did it the night or morning before I would have something to comply with. Funny how most people say they can't eat right because they are so busy.0

I bring my breakfast and lunch to work so I log them first thing in the morning, as I know exactly what I'll be eating for the day. I usually log again before I eat supper but after I've prepared or planned the meal so I know how many calories I have left to work with. If I have an extra snack through the day I try to log immediately so I know what the impact on my intake is.0

I usually plan several days ahead so I already have tomorrow and the day after that pretty much logged.
Makes it easier to keep it balanced.0 -
i log through out the day via phone or web. find its better to do it through out the day than trying to remember it all at once.0

I have the phone app and log right after i eat.0

I log right before or right after I eat. I like having the flexibility to eat what I want (within reason of course). Also, then I'm able to see instantly how many calories i need to burn at the gym. And i feel like it keeps me more accountable for my eating. I think that if I waited till the end of the day I might find that I over ate and if I planned out the entire day or week I might not like the pressure of having to eat what I planned. What can I say, I need the flexiblitiy.0

I have the phone app, so I usually log around the time I eat. Sometimes I log before if it's something planned (like going to Quizno's yesterday -- I checked out the menu online and decided what I wanted, then logged that), but that rarely happens. Because I have it on my phone, I can check throughout the day to see how many calories I have left. So if I'm out at a restaurant, I can pull out my phone and that will help me decide what my choices are. I'm a college student, so flexibility is nice.0

before i start the day0

With having 5 kids at home, I have to plan out my daily meals the night before, so I log them in the the morning..I pack my breakfast, snack and lunch for work, so I already know what I'm having and log it in when I get to work and I normally have a good idea of what I'm going to cook for dinner so I log that one in by the time I'm leaving work. My homelife is crazy busy, so I can't find much time to log what I eat. My snacks for the night I set them out in the morning, so I know what I have to look forward to after dinner. I like have a set schedule of what I'm going to eat for the day..it helps keep me on track!!0

I do it before I eat each meal, usually as I'm deciding/preparing my meals. Helps me know how much or how little I can have, and if I can add any treats in (like light mayo etc) depending on how well I've eaten the rest of the day..!
I've never eaten over my calories!0 -
I log right after I eat it...I'm a label reader so I sort of know how many calories I can have...and if I go over, I work out at night so I make sure I burn the deficit0

i log my food in while i am preparing it so i don't forget anything!0

Generally right before or right after a meal. The longer I go after a meal the more likely I am to unintentionally forget to add something like the ketchup or mayo or a sauce something was cooked with.0

immediately after putting it in my mouth.0

I log breakfast and lunch in the morning before I leave for work. Then log dinner and any snacks when I get home. I usually plan it so I keep under my daily cal allowance. I use both app and web but find the app easier I like to use the web version on a night to see what everyone else is up too 0

For me the planning also makes everything easy when grocery shopping and cooking.. It's like I don't have to think about it at all the rest of the time. Just check what you need and eat it!
I do make adjustments as need arises, though..0 -
As soon as I eat I log my meals. That way I stay on top of it.0

I seen you mentioned you used the app for your phone, how do you get it to sync with the website if you are on the computer, during the day I log onto the computer to track everything but it does not show up on my phone??? I have the droid x0

I log right before I eat each meal/snack. I have the app on my phone, so it's easy.0

I used to log at the end of the day but it didn't work for me.
I've started logging my food every morning. This ensures that I eat the right amount of food every day and also motivates me not to snack when I shouldn't be!0 -
during the day if I can. if I can't, I write down what I ate on a post-it note and log it when I get home from work.0

i plan my day out the best i can either the night before or first thing in the morning. this way i'm able to see how hard i need to work out and where I need to add or remove calories. I know where I'm at and am not looking for extra calories or trying to cut them at the end of the day0
-
I also report it before I eat it....if I don't...I'll lie. lol it gives me a quick "guideline"0

The app syncs when it starts and after every change when online. If you use it offline, just sync the first change you get.0 -
I log several times a day. I think it would be impossible for me to remember exactly what I ate and how much if I left it til night. I have a paper log in my dining room and my computer in the basement where I can log on, plus I have MFP access at work. Usually I log main meals for the day in the morning, and snacks as I go.0

If you wait until the end of the day, you may forget something. It is best to log it when you eat it. Unless, you plan ahead and know what you are eating ahead of time. I use the phone app, so I log breakfast in the morning and the lunch I am taking to work. If I get invited out, I delete lunch and log it at the restaurant. Supper is planned around the calories left and gets logged as I prepare it.0

I'm new....but I have been doing it the night before so I know what I'm eating the next day.
