This isn't what you will want to hear, but I would quit focusing so much on weight...muscle does weigh more & looks better. So it shouldn't matter if you weigh 120 or 135 - if you look good & feel good and you are toned, ignore the scale.

My goal weight will probably never happen because I know the last time I was there, I was not strong & toned. I really don't care if I end up 10 pounds heavier because I will actually be in a size smaller jeans because of the muscle vs fat.

You probably did not gain muscle, as it is difficult to build muscle on a caloric deficit without the aid of enhancers. That being said, when starting or changing your routine your muscles will retain more water to protect them and aid in recovery. After a few days/weeks this water will leave your muscles as you get accustom to the workouts. You still may have lost fat, but the fat you lost may weigh less than the excess water in the muscles.

Everyone goes through this- muscles retain water when you push them (as you would in strength training) to repair themselves. Relax. Make sure to eat enough, work on getting through all your workouts and on how your body looks and feels. You are right near your goal weight, let the scale go for a while. It will work out.

I took a 2 week rest from weight training. Dropped immediate weight (like 3 lbs) and then as soon as I restarted my weight training I went up 5 lbs.
Was incredibly frustrating but I chose to focus on how much my strength and fitness were improving while I waited for my weight to stabilize. Someone told me it was water retention in my muscles or something.... I dunno what it was, but my advice is to stop worshiping the scale for a little bit.
  • focus on body fat ratio not weight. much better way of tracking it if you are doing weights with CV. Most gym's can do a BMI test for you to check this, ask a trainer.

exactly what I dealt with. When the initial soreness went away, things returned to normal and I started losing again!
