snack before the gym?

I was wondering if having a snack before going to the gym is a good idea or is it like eating before swimming, not a good idea? If it is a good idea any suggestions on what? Something quick would be perfect, something I can eat before I leave work or can eat while on my way to the gym. Thanx

I generally eat something high in protein before and after my workouts, but I am not a professional, so maybe others on here have some other ideas.0

I think it depends on what you eat. I usually have 1/2 a banana and some peanut butter if I haven't eaten in a while. I finish the other half after I work out.0

Maybe not a huge snack but something with protein is good... My husband always drinks a protein shake before hitting the gym and once he comes back he takes Creatine with BCAA... Helps with recovery..0

Something small would be a good idea to give you extra fuel for your workout. Have a banana, a protein shake or a protein bar. Then you can eat a regular meal after.
Exercising on a full stomach could potentially make you feel sick.0 -
My trainer told me to eat about 2 hours before my workouts with her. She recommended vegetables before and then protein within 15 minutes after the workout. I think veggies because they are the easiest to digest. I had trouble with feeling nauseated sometimes if I ate the wrong thing before my workout.
I've been told that as long as you eat within an hour after you'll gain the benefits. I try to stick with 15 minutes if it's a really intense workout.0 -
I sometimes have a small fruit like a banana or pear 30 minutes before I arrive to the gym.0
