Lately i've been on a coffee kick (big time) My coffee is decaf and sweetened with a little bit of splenda so not so bad. My trainer says its ok but my friend told me that decaf coffee is kinda like the diet version. is it true:ohwell: ?

I'm not sure if it's true or not, but if you switch to 1/2 caff or caffeinated, the caffeine will give you an extra boost for your workout.0

Coffee is the one thing I can't live without. A cup in the morning an hour or so before my run and it gives me such a boost!0

to me the only difference is if you drink the decaf you can count it as a cup of water. Me...I'll drink that glass of H20 and still drink my coffee, I need the caffeine. LOL0

I'm not sure what you mean by "diet" version? Decaf and caffienated coffee have the same amount of calories. I know it can be bad to have caffiene before a work out because it can cause heart palpatations, so maybe that's what you mean? Some people say it can give you an extra boost for your workout, but it can also be dangerous depending on your heart history. The majority of calories from coffee - regardless of it's caffienation - is what you put in it.0

I don't know if it's true, but I am trying to quit smoking cigarettes and all I want is caffeine. Caffeine in coffee, sodas, and anything else you can think off. It is so bad that I have brewed a pot of coffee with dinner, which is horrible, but I love the warm coffee with dinner. I seem to still be sleeping okay. At least I haven't starting smoking again.0

If you are someone who doesn't use caffiene...then it will give you an extra boost. But if you use it on a regular basis, then it won't matter much. I tell my clients that if coffee is the worst thing they do and it's in moderation...then I wouldn't worry too much. You have to look at the whole picture.0

black caffeinated coffee isn't bad for you. in fact....unless you are super sensitive to caffeine....id drink it regular to give you a healthy boost! decaf is mainly for people who can't have the caffeine but still like the taste. caffeine gets a bad rep when it can be a good thing. raw caffeine (like what is found in coffee or many herbal teas) is good! refined caffeine like what's in coke and other sugary drinks is what is terrible for you.0

Coffee/creamer was the one/two thing/s I couldn't stop. I needed my boost in the morning.0

This made me laugh. For years I've told my husband that, while he may not like my caffeine habit, it could be cocaine.... way more expensive.0 -

Congrats on no smoking!0 -
I think that's fine! I can't live without coffee! I just have to learn to limit my creamer! lol. But I have to have the caffinated. Decaf seems pointless.0

:drinker: I used to drink a case of cokes in a matter of days so caffeine really doesn't have an effect on me. i mean bad to coke for breakfast coke in each class, coke for my lunch, coke for the rest of the classes, another at work, one when i got home with dinner, couple before bed while i was with my friends. if i woke up in the middle of the night another. My husband (boyfriend at the time) used to buy 2 or 3 cases at the end of each week.
I only drink coffee 'cause
1)warm
2)taste though i really don't like it if it's drip coffee only percolated.0 -
Caffine doesn't effect me at all and I grew up mormon so its not something I drank reguarly or anything for me to get used to it...I also only drank water when I was a kid because it would take me so long for me to finish a can of juice it would go flat (oh how thats changed!) so caffine really wasn't in my diet so I should jump off the walls when drinking coffee or an energy drink but nothiing...I had two monter cans really quickly once to see what would happen...if anything I was more tired.
So I just don't see the point.0
