5 syllables for the first line
7 syllables for the second line
5 syllables for the third line
There are other formats, but I just can't remember them; like an 11 syllable one (sparkly girl???)0 -

Golden Grahams tonight
To entice some sweet lovin'
From the man I wed
(Note: this is an inside joke sort of. The other night my hubby brought be some flowers and then proudly proclaimed that he also got my favorite cereal because he knew I loved it! And held up the boxes!! I do love it and don't eat it often because of the sugar, etc....but I have been having it for dessert!!....And it is now sort of a running joke about the Golden Grahams seduction! HAHA)0 -

the Haiku is indeed 5 • 7 • 5 however you are welcome to stray for the form if you feel so inclined!
There are many forms on traditional and non-traditional haiku, all with similar but different formats. The total syllables are where it begins. Our examples contain 11 syllables. Some haiku are broken up differently. Some have 17 syllables and can be broken up different ways, one being 5-12
i.e.
Sugar, spice and tea
a soothing little elixir it is for me0 -
