Diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. Told the doctor for years, but wouldn't listen. Anyone out there having success despite thyroid problems? Do tell!

There are many people on here who have mentioned thyroid problems. Myself I have a thyroid condition called hashimotos. It is a challenge however you can certainly do it. I think that for me what has helped most is paying attention to how foods make you feel. I have chosen to follow a high fiber, low fat plan. I also take supplements.

Drink plenty of water no matter what type of plan you choose to follow. Log everything in because you have to first be honest with yourself. And be cautious of how many processed sugars and carbs that you intake.

There are alot of people here who will cheer you on and can help anytime. We re glad you are here.

Hi, I too have a messed up thyroid. I thought I could never lose weight. I have medication. I know now that it isn't my thyroid that is the problem, it is what I put in my mouth!!!::frown: I know now that I can lose weight and it really helps to have a support system. This has become mine. Be well and hang in there!

I have had a nonfunctioning thyroid for many years along with other multiple health issues. You can lose the weight. Just hang in there and keep on keeping on and before you know it the weight will be gone.
I have lost 171 pounds and kept it off for 3 years now. I have put on about 4 “vacation pounds” that I am working to take off now.
The sad thing here (and something I am not proud of ) this is the second time I have lost this much weight. The first time I lost 174 pounds. I went back to my old way of eating and the weight came back. This time I refuse to gain the weight back. I am stubborn! I WILL win this battle. And you will too.
