Potato Chip Trip

Day 13-- Small bump today. Did not get the support I wanted from my DH and friends. Weight was the topic and the comments to me were
"thats been a five year battle for you, just give up--go ahead and have your potato chips--what difference will a few chips make"
I got angry. Then I decided that the anger came from the hurt and to help with the hurt I brought myself a small pack of chruncheez and ate them.
Who lost that battle. ME. So I am able to say that I made it through 13 days with no potato chips and I am gonna continue to count that as a victory for me. 13 DAYS that is GOOD. I know that I cannot continue to give away my power when it comes to my eating habits.
I am the only one who controls my eating--others can hurt my feelings but I can control my response to that hurt. (AND POTATO CHIPS ARE NOT THE ANSWER).
I will continue to work on my habit and I will develop a thicker skin.

Good job! I've been 4 months without soda (except for 2 set backs: one was a large sonic cherry lime-ade, the other was splitting a pitcher of mountain dew with my husband at the bowling alley one night) I mentally count those, but also just take them as speed bumps, not "stop-and-start-over"s. It's not easy. I REALLY wanted a Coca-cola yesterday. But I'm doing ok without it.

Good for you debbyrae3. Diet cola is another of my demons--I only have the strength to battle one at a time. WTG for you four months-that is a major accomplishment. Congrats.

Thanks! I don't drink diet, never have. It tastes too sweet to me (I think my mouth/tongue senses the artificial sweeteners differently hahaha). But Coke is my guilty habit (and going without it for 4 months was hard, but very rewarding). I noticed just a week after I stopped, I felt and even looked soooo much less bloated than I used to.

Don't let the other people's comments bother you - they are ignorrant people and just jealous that you are makin' progress...We all have slip ups, don't let this get you down! TODAY is a new day for new goals again.
You let them win when you went and got that bag of chips!...Let this be a lesson learned. Bring some ricecakes with you, just incase you have that chip cravin' - they have some many wonderful flavours...best wishes to you...You are a strong woman don't let them or this set back get you down...and you lost 2.6 pounds right? xo
