Fruit Juice

Just curious, I love apple juice and red/purple grape juice and sometimes cranberry. I prefer getting fruit from juice because I don't like eating fruit. My question relates to are there any good fruit juices with less sugar and such? does anyone know of a brand that's actually good for you? what about those organic juices?

Target stores carry low sugar fruit juice, but it is best to eat whole fruits. Make sure you measure
  • V8 splash is actually pretty good....and almost 1/2 the calories of most fruit juices! Also, Tropicana 50 is pretty good!
  • Edorice, thanks for the input, but we don't have a target in my tiny town :(. We have a walmart. I'll have to see if our walmart even carries the tropicana 50. I saw a commercial for it earlier and wasn't sure, hence the question. I know that fruit fruit is the best way to get fruit, but I don't do fruit textures. I have a hard time getting past biting into fruit. Always been that way. but i love juice, again, hence the question. carmen, thanks. i used to drink v8 splash when i was a kid, so i'll definitely try that again. Thanks :)
  • I ended up buying "Motts for Tots" Apple Juice - it has almost 1/2 (if not less) of the calories, but more importantly 1/2 the sugar.

I kept plateauing and after my trainer looked at my food journal he saw that the large one sugar intake's (i.e. lg glass of apple juice, a coke, etc) were what were hamstringing me. He explained when you take a big hit of sugar like that, it spikes insulin, and your body is signaled to retain energy/fat stores for the next few hours.

So something like a Coke with my lunch singnaled my body to hold on to the fat stores.Saw the same thing happening when I would look at my flavored drinks (like Gatorade) or Juices. Anything with PROCESSED sugar. (Sugar in fruits doesn't cause the same reaction - I believe).
