Do not have Paula Deen's Best Dishes playing on television while you do Saturday morning chores. Fried Buttermilk Chicken Breast Sandwiches look extremely tasty especially when you are trying NOT to eat them!!

Sure they look good but just think about how you would feel AFTER eating one of those greasy sandwiches. I just tell myself they are poison! LOL

I prefer to watch "The Biggest Loser" or "I used to be fat" to keep myself motivated:smile:

I switched from BBQ Pitmasters to watching Giada. But then again, I would watch her stir dirt in a bucket of water.

My husband made a whole thing of mac and cheese. I told him he has to take it bake to Boston with him on Monday. Should be a challenge today. :grumble:

There should be a law against "Food Porn."
  • I don't even turn food network on anymore! It always puts me into snack mode!

I'm sorry. I love Paula Deen. I used to make her dishes all the time. I don't do that anymore, but she is still fun to watch. Sometimes she haves lighter recipes, not as often as buttermilk fried chicken breast sandwiches or gooey chocolate cookies, but she does have them. lol

1st Southern Cooking is so bad...that is hurts...I get it..but sometimes with pleasure comes a little pain, right?

Scott..don't accidently get a little drool in the dirt or what a muddy mess!

Now on CNN, that definitely takes your appetite away. Have a good & healthy day...but don't forget to have a little fun!

Btw, anyone ever watch that British cooking show on the BBC? It's called Two Fat Ladies Who Cook. Talk about high calorie. They make Paula Deen's cooking look like Weight Watchers recipes.
  • I was born and bred in Georgia, and my boyfriend asked me once if I knew how to cook fried chicken and fried green tomatoes..and I said, "duh it's in my GA DNA!" lol its hard cooking in my house because my family still craves and eats those bad comfort foods!

I can't watch that show anyway. I tried once or twice and I sit there, mouth wide open, totally grossed out. I grew up in WI and we never ate anything like that. You can see the grease dripping off of it. Ew. I think my cholesterol went up just talking about it.

love that show.. i used to be fat!
  • I watch cooking shows whilst on my bike exercising?!? It just passes the time and distracts me from what i'm doing! Either them or house programmes or things like Biggest Looser! I think having a distraction makes me do more n feel the aches n pains less! Bear Grylls was on @ 6am the other morning @ 6am...watching him eating maggots and ripping a dead sheeps heart out and eating it did nearly make me throw up thought!

Paula Deen makes me want to vomit. My husband and I went to her restaurant in Savannah during our honeymoon, and everything was literally drowning in grease. It was disgusting. (And this was in my pre-health food days!) Honestly, we should have saved our money and stayed home and eaten a stick of butter. Gross.

I happened to turn on the tv to her show the other day. It was "Healthy Eating Week" on Food Network, and all the other chefs were making light, low-fat dishes with tons of veggies. Paula, however, made triple-fried french fries with a mayonnaise dip. Disgusting.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a girl who loves her fish and chips and beer. But the thought of dipping fries in mayonnaise makes me feel fat and greasy just thinking about it. Sick, Paula, sick.
