i was wondering how much calories i burned doing my job
i clean a building at my uni for 4 hours every weeknight, (monday-friday)
my building has five floors and my cleaning duties include vaccuming, dusting, mopping, taking out garbage, cleaning tiolets, etc. (all the nice nasty stuff lol)
all this involves a lot of walking through the building and its generally its alot of work, especially to fit it in in the timeframe:grumble: you definitely feel it by the end of the shift:sick:
so i visited three different websites to see how many calories i burn doing it they're all saying roughly 750-780 calories for two hours!!! :noway: that cant be right
i do double that!!!!

the reason i wanted to know was because of doing this work i couldnt bring myself to workout during the day coz i'd be so tired, but this can't be right, can it?

Probally cleaning burns major calories. I would be happy, it could be your workout..

I work at Lowe's in the Garden section and am always moving, always lifting, and always doing something. I do not work out because like you I work over 40 hours a week and am dead tired when I have a break, but I have been losing weight constantly and like that I don't have to jump on the treadmill for an hour. I'm not 100% sure about the calories though.
Good luck.0 -
better to just call it an active lifestyle and not add every day activitiy in, even if you are very active. That way you don't have to worry about adding things every single day, it is automatically added for you.0

i changed my "normal activities" thingo under update diet/profile settings when i first got the job
i posted a thread a while ago and asked ppl which would be better and they said that
but can those calorie amounts be real?
that was only for two hours, i do four so thats 400 calories less a day than what i'm eating
assuming of course those are the days i actually reach all of my calories:grumble:
aww well momentary panic is over time to rest
thanks guys!:flowerforyou:0 -

Well, if your heart rate is only say 15% above resting then yeah, I could see 375 calories per hour. It all depends on how hard your body is working. the only real way to tell is to wear an HRM while working and see what the actual calorie count is.0 -
