In need of motivation!

Hello All!! My name is Helen, and I've joined in hope of a boost. I've lost 60 pounds so far this year, and am still hoping to lose about 25-30 more. The trouble is I've hit a plateau, and feel stuck and incredibly unmotivated. So I'm trying to kick it up this week. I've joined a family gym with my husband and 2 year old daughter, and have used it to full advantage so far. I've switched things up in the kitchen by changing around some recipes and bringing some new produce and healthy meats into the house. Now I've joined myfitnesspal.com in hopes that a little bit more tracking will help my progress along. I'm in no rush to get the weight off, I'm happy with slow and steady progress. I don't believe in unrealistic goals that won't stick with me in the long run. You're all the experts, any advice for a newbie?

It sounds to me like you're on the right path, Helen! Slow & steady wins the race. For us, this is a lifestyle change, so there's no rush to lose the weight for us. I've battled weight my entire life and was 207 at my highest and 97 at my lowest (anorexic then when I was a teen). Keep up the great work, keep changing up your recipes and workouts (switch to other types of cardio & weights to mix it up), and you'll do just fine. Be sure to track your measurements too, because muscle weighs more than fat, so for us, too, it's about losing inches and fat %, rather than what the scale actually shows. Good luck!0

Don't give up.. We all have hit that wall. Mix up your workouts do something you normally wouldn't have done. We are all creatures of habit so we have to trick ourselves at times. Stick with it the results will follow.0

It sounds like you're doing everything right. I would just maybe throw in some different exercises that include the family like hiking or playing tag. I noticed that when I added a new activity that challenged my body in new ways it helped me kickstart my weight loss again.
Good luck and keep on truckin'!0 -
Thanks for all the ideas. It's nice to hear words of support from people who were/are there.0
