do your calorie goals go up or down? I'm guessing the more you lose, the lower your calories get. Just wondering how that works. & does mfp change the calorie goals automatically for you?

The answer is a bit more complicated, with the answer being goes both up and down, depending a lot of your own weight loss and how far you've come. Basically, the more body fat you have, the faster pace you can lose weight and still be healthy. As you body burns fat and gets lighter, your body burns less calories in maintenance than it did when it was heavier. This would lead to a decrease in your calorie goal. MFP does not do this for you automatically, and recommends you adjust it by reentering the settings every 10-20 pounds so it can adjust your goals accordingly.

Now, here is the BIG caveat to all of that. As you get closer to your goal weight, you need to slow down your weight loss. Looking at your goals, it says you are trying to lose about 70 pounds. As you get closer to your goal, you will not be able to lose weight at the same speed as you are now. The less fat your body has on it, the smaller deficit your body can healthily operate at, since there is less extra fat to turn into energy. So when you're at 40 pounds to go, 20 pounds to go, 10 pounds to go, etc, your body will need to have different weight loss goals. So this will actually INCREASE the amount of calories you eat per day, since you are eating closer and closer to your maintenance level. This can be adjusted by changing your goals in the settings.

I know this is a lot, so does what I am saying make sense?
