I do my version of the California roll.

For the rice you can use sticky rice but I just use my Jasmine rice and add a little bit of white vinegar when it's done cooking. I add imitation crab meat that you can buy at just about every grocery store and I add cucumbers.

I love to make my own sushi! Its quite easy if you get the rice just right. But as far as what to put in it, thats up to you. Its quite easy and if you practice you learn the tricks rather fast. Put some veggies, avo, and some fresh cut fish and your good to go. Low calories too :)

P.S. Get your bamboo pads and cover them with sir-an wrap ;)

I just looked up some how-to videos for sushi and it doesn't look that hard. I can't wait to try it! Here are some videos I found:

This is a part 1 and 2 video, the girl talks a lot but it is definitely worth watching if you want to learn something. Thanks guys!

There is a little kit you can buy (I've seen it at Whole Foods)- the brand is Auntie Chun's and it comes with the seaweed wraps and microwavable sticky rice- then, you just add whatever you want on the inside. It's easy and yummy! :flowerforyou:

Follow the FDA rules for sushi sellers, that requires freezing fish to kill parasites. Check the temperature of your freezer as many domestic freezers only reach -18C which is not cold enough. Here are the time and temperature guidelines.

If you buy sushi grade fish, it should have already been frozen at sea.

In Ontario where I live that rule was overturned and we can get fresh never frozen sushi grade seafood.
