Okay...so here it is. I've been working out HARD CORE! Burning just about every single calorie I put in my mouth. I've been losing my projected 2 lbs. a week most weeks since I've been working out hard core. I tend to go over my calories by 100 to 200 but I burn around 800 to 1200 calories when I workout. I don't eat my exercise calories but I keep reading this thing about starvation mode? UGH I just don't understand...does anyone have any idea what I should be doing if anything? I don't feel hungry cause I keep my body fueled the entire day and I have mega burn, but the past few days I've been getting bad headaches...I don't know this could be the cause...Anyone with knowledge on this could really help me out! THANKS! : 0)

    You shouldn't be burning every calorie you eat, or that's what i assume you do by what you posted. MFP gives you the number of calories you should be eating to meet your projected goal with out exercise added. If you do exercise, then your calorie intake goes up for the day and you should eat those calories as well. Example, let's say your daily allowment from MFP is 1200 calories and you burn 400 calories during exercise. You then should be consuming 1600 calories to prevent going into starvation mode and making sure your body has enough fuel and nutrients. Hope this helps!
  • Make sure you drink enough water!
  • I agree, up your water....I ran 8.5 miles yesterday, but only drank 10 glasses of water...today, NASTY headache!

    I would definitely consider eating some of those exercise calories. Also, I was getting bad headaches but a multi vitamin helped. Might be worth trying, if you don't already take one.

    did you give up anything like soda or coffee..caffeine withdrawl causes some pretty bad migraines...I agree increase your water if your working out a lot and also have your BPchecked..
  • Not so sure I fully buy the starvation mode thing. I've researched it some and while your metabolism CAN slow down due to under eating, and thus slow your weight loss, you will still technically lose (albeit slower).

    A couple things I've noticed from weeks I don't lose much if any weight/gain weight:
    1. I am not monitoring my sodium;
    2. I am not drinking enough water;
    3. I am working out SO hard that my muscles are shredded. Apparently this makes the muscles retain water.
    4. Might be putting on muscle, which could replace lost fat but the scale doesn't differentiate. So take your measurements, too.

    Ohh, and I think eating more small meals in a day as opposed to 3 big ones tends to stoke the metabolism better...so that might help as well.

    Good luck, you'll lose! Stick with it :-)

    I'm def not an expert but I know i tend to get headaches when I go "hard core" but a lot of mine is due to hydration and caffeine (withdrawal). Make sure your body is hydrated enough! And, if you do drink caffeine and have cut back or cut it out completely, then it could be the caffeine withdrawal. There's nothing worse than a bad headache when you're trying to stay focused. I think you're doing a great job so, keep it up and hopefully your headache issue will disappear - - with the weight!!! :flowerforyou:
