Muscle Milk Question

I bought some muscle milk powder today. I'm currently trying to lose weight and tone up in the process. I'm doing Turbo Jam as my fitness routine. So my question is, should I start drinking the Muscle Milk now, and drink it daily? Only drink it on days that I do the strength/toning videos? Or not drink it at all,wait til I get closer to my goal weight and really focus on toning up??
I dont know anything about protein shakes and thier benefits so any input will be appreciated.

    Protein powder is used for diet balance and insulin control as well as to help the torn muscle fibers repair after a workout. The best for this and fastest absorbing is whey protein. Cassein protein is best used at night B4 bed to aid in "at rest" metabo because it absorbs more slowly. Drink a shake within 30 minutes after cooldown if running or right after a workout(resistance training). During a tough workout (R/T) sip Gatorade or even Kool-Aid.
