confused with bmi bmr and how many calories to eat

hi,
can someone help me make sense of this?
my bmr said i need 1555 calories a day. i was told to eat 1200 calories a day to lose 1 1/2 pounds a week. but i don't want to put my body into starvation mode.
how many calories should i eat?
i intend to work out 6 days a week for 45 minutes, cardio and light weights?
please help. i desperately want to succeed.

That means you burn about 1555 calories a day. So eating 1200 would put you at about a 300 calorie deficit. Eat 1200, and then don't forget to put in your exercise, and then check your food tab and it will tell you how many extra calories to eat over the 1200 to keep you from going into starvation mode.

and take a deep breath and relax. If you just put your foods in and see where you are, and if you're already eating healthy (cut the refined carbs like white bread, white rice, white noodles and switch to whole grains, brown rice, wild rice, quinoa, barley, soba noodles, etc -- you'll do great)0 -
The way I do it is: I put in my breakfast , then I do my excersises and put them in , then I know how much I have left for lunch, dinner and snacks. If I understood it right 1200 is the minimum you should eat, but since you need to loose a lot of weight you want to go slow. I usually do about 15 min. of streching, 30 min. of cardio and 15 more for shaping. that gives me around 400 to 500 more calories that I also eat. So for instance I get 1500 cal for loosing 2 pounds a week, I add 400 cal. from exercise I eat 1900 calories a day. THe important part is also the eat about 5 to 6 small meals, whole carbs, lean protein, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Ok got to go to church.... by the way this website can become addictive:laugh:0

Also, what activity level did you set for your BMR? That number sounds very low.0

You should be fine to eat the 1200 cals daily. be sure to enter in any excercise and to eat all or most of those calories as well. I don't think you need to worry about starvation mode but just stay aware of your body. You may need to make adjustments to the numbers if weeks go by with no losses.... but I doubt you need to worry about that. Good luck! :drinker:
As a side note, 1550 doesn't sound too low for a BMR. Mine is about 1630. Keep in mind a BMR measures how many calories you burn each day if you do nothing but rest... so clearly you are ACTUALLY burning way more than that (especially with 2 babies under 2!!)0
