Drama. If it's in a book, movie, tv show, etc, I love it. In real life, I can't freaking stand it. I have six siblings. Four sisters, two brothers. We are spread across the country, but me and my mom live only an hour apart. And my mother whom I love dearly, is the most dramatic of us all. Whenever she gets upset about someone in the family, she lets the rest of us know. Then it's all "she said, he said" blah blah blah. Before you know it, phone calls are made around the country. This just happened again tonight when she was upset at two of my sisters and I got pulled in the middle. I swear my mom thrives on drama. I shouldn't have answered the phone, you'd think by now I'd know better. If my mom is calling after 9 p.m., it's not good news. I won't bore anyone with the details, but I am determined to not let this add stress to my life. I am determined to just let this blow over and not talk about it again. I said bye bye to daily drama four years ago when my marriage ended. I'm not letting it run my life again. I love you, mom, but I cherish my sanity. Whew. Okay.
Btw, I told my sister that if anything like that ever happened again that we were to text each other a warning that someone may be calling them. I said it should say, "Incoming! *insert irrational relative here*grenade! Pulled the pin, sorry!"
What do you guys do to avoid drama? What steps have you taken? And most importantly, what works and what doesn't? lol

I just don't tolerate negativity. I don't care if they are family, friend or some freak on the street....if they are toxic they are warned then I walk away.
My mom didn't think I was serious but she does now...and leaves me out of it lol

Parents eh? My mum is the same as yours, god love her to pieces, but she is almost 70 and has health problems for the first time in her life so I just nod and smile and let her get it out of her system. Often they just want someone to listen; not to offer solutions, but to make the right noises so that they themselves can come up with a solution. After all, they have raised us, so it's not as if they are completely helpless individuals.
I imagine that you may be a bit like me - try to see the positive side of things even in the worst situations, because constant moaning gets no-one anywhere - which is great, so don't let a bit of drama bring you down.
Good luck x0 -
My mom is the same way unfortunately and my brother and I have learned to warn each other when we know we are going to get a call from her. Don't get me wrong I love my mom it's just hard to have a normal conversation with her when she is in that mood to wallow in the drama. I just find a reason to get off the phone. I will tell her I am in the middle of something or just say "I can't talk right now". Usually by the next time I talk to her she has calmed down. I have also learned that I can't let someone else's drama become my drama. I just laugh it off. Sometimes that's all we can do. I try to be a sort of example if I don't get upset over something then maybe she will see it's not that big of a deal.
I wish you the best.

In one ear & out the other is the best way to handle this. If it doesn't REALLY involve you, let it go.0
