where does MFP get their nutrition limits?

I'm curious. Is each person's nutrition limits different and based on their own goals or does everyone get the same numbers. Its hard for me to explain so I'll use an example. For instance: I try and stay under the carbs and sugar limits that mfp sets for me but but I hear that I should stay around 90-100 grams of carbs but mfp allows for much more. Are these healthy limits or should I ignore them. I'd be happy to embrace the carb and fat limits but they seem so high and I always go over sugar protein and fiber.
