Hi, my name is Hayley and I am in desperate need of support. In April 2008 I had my daughter and my weight was the highest at 230. From then to January I went down to 182 from doing a very low carb diet which I think was a huge mistake because I've gained so much of it back! I am now over the 200's and I am just fed up with myself. I'll stay motived and eat well and workout for a week straight and then I fall off the wagon again. I think having no support has really made this so much harder. Everytime I fall off the wagon I seem to gain even more weight and I'm just so frustrated. I'm planning to start trying for number two in the summer and I need to drop about 50 pounds! Anyone out there need support too or are there groups? I just don't know where to start!

welcome to MFP you'll find a lot of support. I find that setting small goals for yourself works. I've fallen of the wagon a few times and I know it's hard to get back on but you have to beleive in yourself and trust yourself. Feel free to add me as a friend if you like. We can motivate each other.

I had the same issue. I gained quite a bit of weight with my daughter when I was pregnant with her 3.5 years ago. Then I got pregnant with my son and never lost the weight from daughter so at my heaviest I was 170. All my life I've been below 125. I am now at 154 after losing about 20 lbs and I still have about 20 more lbs to go. You can do it. I never realized how hard, long and frustrating it would be to lose weight. You have to stay dedicated and start out slow. I am totally here if you need support because I do know how hard it is. Good luck!
  • I will be more than happy to support you. Don't look back....just keep moving forward.

Welcome! Check out all the forums and find a group that you are comfortable with. They are LOTS! Make short term goals and stick with it. Don't just go on another diet. Make a lifestyle change. With diets you tend to see the end of the diet as a way to go back to old habits. If you just change it and leave it then its done.

Feel free to add me as a friend and I'll definitely help you with support. I've fallen off and gotten back on at least three times since August 2010. I joined this site last week and I've found it very helpful. It's great.

I think it's easier to start with eating right first. Usually it takes about a week or two. Then once you have that under control, I would begin exercise. For me, that usually helps. I hate scales, so I only weigh myself once a week, and try not to pay attention to the number but focus on how my clothes fit. I only weigh myself for this site. I try not to get frustrated and I set mini goals and have rewards when I reach them. For example, my first 10 pounds gone, I will buy myself a nice pair of shoes. =)

If I work out and burn a lot of calories during the week, on Sunday, I get little treat - like a regular krispy kreme donut. Its only 200 calories.

I have workout buddies and a great MP3 player with good music too.

I've only logged for 10+ days so far but I find that logging what I eat and having calorie content, fat, sodium etc. displayed right in front of me makes me pay better attention to what I throw into my mouth.

Other than that, the support of other users is EXTREMELY motivating.
