That's all for the welcome home, makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

AD - you make me blush. Both of the yoga pics have reasons behind them. The backbend picture was inspired by my teacher's picture. She's doing the same pose near a lake, so I did it near the ocean. The handstand picture is something my little sister and I do on every beach. We have handstand pictures from Santa Monica to Vero Beach. We forgot to get one on Amelia Island though.

The highlights of the trip were: losing a pound - never, ever, happened before when I was on vacation. I'm still waiting for it to come back, the bike ride on the beach (it really was a lot of fun), and a mushroom lasagna at Amelia Island. Usually I can tell how something is made - I have no clue how they did the lasagna. It was incredible.

Alas, yesterday I went to a circuit weights class and pulled a muscle in my back! I'm so ticked. I was on the floor most of the day yesterday - so no weights for a while. I have to teach yoga today and Wednesday, but I'll just avoid the poses that hurt it. I'm also very sore. I won't take that class again. So today is walking a yoga and it may be another week before I have my hard week of exercise.

Happy workouts!

Mary

ps: at 17 lbs lost, I'm officially 10% smaller than I was last year at this time  I told myself I would take pictures of all my more challenging yoga poses at this point. That way I can track yoga progress, which can be difficult to see sometimes.

Mary, you're too cute! I like pictures that mean something.... even if the rest of the world knows not the significance!

So I said I was going to kick June off with a vengance and I did. Last night about 10:30 I decided to get off my butt and do the gazelle. I thought, o.k. 30 min. I can do it. Then I came across Fielene's Basement on TLC (WL if you had anything to do with this show, then you are my motivation). A crazy t.v. show about the dash for wedding dresses in Boston became my "O.k., just till the next commercial". When the show ended, I had done 8.5 miles and burned over 1,000 calories in less than an hour and a half!!!!!! :noway: YIPEE

Watch out June, here I come!

OK, so today I'm returning to yoga. I did something to my back, too (something in the continental air?) so, I'm dying to have it stretch out.

I'm finding this is a very difficult thing, as I know now that Yoga burns practically no calories. I keep saying to myself: "exercise is not something you should do exclusively to burn calories". Especially since my stress levels have been very high, Yoga is important for me. I bought a (knock-off) Bikram book called "hot yoga", so I can experiment with the poses before I have to try them in the sauna room.

Depending on how the back feels, I may walk home from the subway. (at rush hour, I usually beat the bus if I travel on foot anyways. . .)

    Mushroom lasagna. . .mmmmmmmm.

This is me as well -- am thinking it's the only downfall of having a HRM -- now I find myself skipping things like yoga and pilates becasue they don't burn the calories, although I know they are important too.

So sorry to hear about the back pain everyone! Just try to take it easy.

And Arianne, nope, did not have anything to do with the Filene's Basement show, but I did grow up in Boston and am a HUGE fan of the store (and always knew enough to stay far, far away during that sale). Great job on the 1000 cals!!!!

    Yesterday:
~ Elliptical, slow pace for 20 minutes
    ~ Walked for 45 minutes
~ Kept within my calories, kept them healthy

Today is another light week of exercise cycling so my plan is:
~ Heading to the gym now, going to do 20 minutes stairs/ 20 minutes walking on incline
    ~ Weight training legs
~ Keep within my calories and keep them healthy

    Have a great day!

OH! And totally forgot to mention -- Mary, I LOVE the beach photos and love the idea of you and your sister doing a handstand on every beach. You are looking GREAT!

Hi ladies! I finally got to do the 30 Day Shred. I'm not bragging by any means, but I'm seriously considering doing either Level 2 or Level 1 twice a day. I didn't have any problem with Level 1 at all. Don't take me wrong-it is a great workout. She does circuit training...3 minutes strength, 2 minutes cardio & 1 minute abs three times with NO breaks. I used my 5 pound weights and my arms were very upset with me by the time I was done. I kept hearing Bob whispering in my ear "work through the pain".
I'll keep it up for the month of June & see where I am then.

    Happy Monday all!

I did my upper body lifting today and feel like jello. Hmm, jello. I think I have some in the fridge... that sounds good. SORRY! Only problem with good workouts is a good appetite. I've just eaten half a cantaloupe, a cluster of grapes, and my husband made beef & potato soup (really good & perfect combo of protein & simple carbs). Only I'm STILL hungry! Noway I'm going to make calories tonight!

    How's everyone else doing?

Same boat - going over, but I guess it's hard to get back on track after vacation. Also, I can't work as hard as normal since I pulled that back muscle. Hope I'm up to the elliptical tomorrow!

Almost went over (thank God I walked home today. . . that bought me an extra 150 calories). Read "Yoga burns no calories" (at least for me) above.

But, I will say I felt calmer all day, so I'll take it.:flowerforyou:
