Veggie pasta anyone?

Has anyone tried Veggie Pasta or know the nutritional advantage? I can't find much on it. Everyone is stressing whole wheat pasta these days, but I just can't stomach brown pasta under my red sauce. Something about that just isn't right? What do ya'll think?

    I haven't tried that so I probably shouldn't be posting, LOL. But I have tried the Smart Taste pasta from Ronzoni. It's pretty good and I *think* it's healthy alternative of a wheat or something else. That is what we use b/c I can't get over the brown pasta either.

    Roconto glycemic health pasta is soooo good. It tastes just like regular pasta but with 11grams of fiber and you dont get an insuline spike.

    I've lost almost 20 pounds eating pretty much anything i want. ice cream cake. Regular pasta, whatever. It's just about moderation and keeping that pasta dishes to about once a week.

    I think vegetable pasta, unless some gourmet spinach stuff, is just dyed. I could be wrong though.

    Use whole wheat pasta, and avoid cream sauce. I use whole wheat pasta, with a bit of olive oil, some sliced tomato and olive, an ounce of feta, and a sprinkle of finely chopped pecans. Only on days where I can afford about 400-500 calories for the pasta dish alone.

    However, try this.

    Bake or broil a chicken breast half, slice it thin, spread your regular spaghetti sauce over it, and don't put any pasta in the dish. You get almost the exact flavor with a fraction of the calories. If you want to go vegetarian use broiled eggplant instead... same benefits and yummy flavor.

    I don't think there's much difference in the food value and/or calorie counts between the vegetable "enhanced" pasta and regular pasta. That said, here's a link to just about every kind of pasta you might want. Keep in mind, though, when checking nutrition information that serving size varies from item to item. There are pages of different types, brands, flavors and varieties.

  • I'll have to try the chicken and eggplant! Pasta isn't by big thing, I'm more into the sauce. Thanks!
