New Food Challenge- Join In!

I know most of us get so bored with the same ole' same ole' foods so I thought it would be fun to start a challenge! The rules are simple...

Cook a meal for your family this week containing at least 1 new ingredient that you have never used before or used in a non-traditional manner. The dish must be wholesome and good for you (i.e. don't create an 800 calorie a slice pizza topped with your mystery ingredient).

I'm hoping with this impromptu 'challenge' we can each become inspired to branch out from our comfort zones and get those creative juices flowing.

As for me- I've only used pumpkin to make pies... this week I'm going to make a creamy pumpkin soup and hopefully find some lump crab meat to accompany it. I'll keep everyone up to date about when I plan on making my dish (probably on Thursday or Friday for dinner) and the recipe and the reviews from my family. My husband was like "Umm I'll try it but no promises" so we'll see how it goes!

What new ingredient have you always wanted to try and been too scared? Perhaps we can give each other some ideas... let's get cooking!
