Well, I usually get up and get to the gym by 9 in the summer (I'm a teacher with 2 boys - 3 and 6) because they have classes for the boys. Anyway, this mornign I got up put on gym clothes, but ended up talking to my sister for a until almost 10, so we missed that class. Now it's 1:00 here. I'm in my gym clothes (still), only now I've put on my ipod and running shoes, water's on the treadmill (at home) and I'm still putting off getting on it.
I guess since we don't have satellite in that room, I'll pop in a DVD and go for a run or I"ll never do it!
Anyone else put off exercise? The funny thing is that I love how I feel when I'm done!

Sure i can relate to that. this past weekend on Saturday, went to the Y, changed into my workout clothes, took my boy to daycare, stretched, and then i feel like I'll workout later. So went back into the daycare, changed back into my regular clothes, and left thinking that I'll go run later at the park with my sister. It was a beautiful day Saturday. So, later on the day, it started to rain really hard and didn't have a chance to workout. I knew I should have workout while I was at the Y. I regretted it so much. So Sunday comes along and I didn't feel like working out. I had to go anyways because my plan is to workout at least 4 times a week. Boy did I have a good workout on Sunday. I feeeelt great afterwards!0

It's easy to put of what you don't like doing. The trick is doing it despite not liking it. I don't LOVE working out anymore (I'm tired and cranky at the end of the day after hanging out with high schoolers), BUT I have to remind myself WHY I am here exactly.
There are a million things to distract us or that we'd rather do. Typically the first things to go are things like, eating well and working out. Not sure why, but usually they hit the chopping block first. Which is more important...being healthy and fit....or talking to your sister for an HOUR (goodness I can barely talk to my brothers 5 minutes).0 -
I actually am addicted to it, but it's just a question of what can I/should I do first
Anyway, I just finished and I walked for 15 min at 4.5, but then I was able to run at 6.4 for 60 min which equaled 6.5 miles.
I just checked my food journal and I have now burned more than I've eaten today and it's already 2:30 in the afternoon - and I'm not a big evening snacker. :ohwell: Guess I'll figure it out.0 -
Good for you!
I like to think of working out as a main priority (kids coming first and spouse second...if he/she is lucky). Everything else can wait til you at least have met that obligation (working out)...errands, cooking, etc.
I don't get to workout til after a full day at work. However, since my daughter can be watched by my parents it's my next priority for 30+ minutes. Nothin else stands in the way of meeting that goal...or I will come up with some lame excuse not to do it.
As for the snacking (whihc isn't my fav thing either). Maybe have a nice drink...like hot chocolate, lemonade, etc to use up some calories. I have had to really push myself to eat snacks and somedays I'll go all day not eating (it's insane...I just get too busy). 100 Calorie packs are great. It's not a huge snack, takes no prep time, and if you get muchies for sweets tames those too.0
