Who has tried yoga dvds? I found one or two on Amazon with pretty good reviews. I trust the opinions of MFP members, so I want to know what you think.

Here's the link for the one I am thinking about getting:
http://www.amazon.com/Yoga-Weight-Beginners-Maggie-Rhoades/dp/B000RE94M4/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2XSUIEU7NOU2K&colid=1Y2845OOXZ33U

I have pretty good balance, and I am fairly flexible, so I think I can handle it, but I want your thoughts.

THANKS!

  • That one looks pretty good. I do yoga and pilates and LOVE IT! I'm definitely still a beginner though. I don't know if you are aware but if you have a wii or xbox or even just your computer you can stream tons of workout videos from netflix for only about 7.00 a month. I like to do that so that I can get different ones everyday. Plus I love movies. But I just thought I'd throw that out there in case it's something you would be interested in but hadn't thought of. They have one I do a lot and it's crunch super slim down. It's awesome! Anyway, good luck on your weight loss path. You can do it!
  • :flowerforyou: I think they are fantastic. My Nan gave me one for Christmas & I love being able to do it anytime at home.
Better for your balance is the wii. it has yoga and measures your core strength.
    Have fun.

I do have netflix... I don't know why I did not think of that. You're a genius! AND you just saved me $10 bux.

I knew I could count on MFP!

Yoga has many benefits but I don't think it will contribute greatly to weight loss. Need to get your HR up.

I don't count on it for actual significant weight loss, really I want to limber up more, and tone up a little. I walk a lot with my dog for cardio. It's not a lot, only about an hour a day, but it's a start. Once I get to the goal weight I think it will be ok to start jogging perhaps. Right now it's super uncomfortable to run. (The girls are too big and it's not a pleasant experience for anyone. lol)
  • Glad I could help!

  • A search of You Tube with "yoga for beginners" will give you some things to try! I like to do it in the morning to stretch and get going. Followed by some meditation - but that's another topic perhaps! I find Bob Harper (Biggest Loser fame) has some very good "power yoga" workouts - they'll certainly get your HR up.

    Good luck!

So I checked out my netflix and did not come up with anything streaming, just the dvd's by mail. I think I will end up getting the one from amazon. Thanks for your help!
  • You have to look online under instant que then categories then sports and fitness then workouts. Don't click the "add" or "play" button but instead scroll over them with your mouse and then it will pop up "add to instant que" Do that and then when you load it up on the wii it will be right there in your instant que, the first thing you see. :)
