Hi

Does anyone know how many calories you would add to something if you deep fry it? Is there a rough guide?

Try weighing it before and after cooking. The difference is the quantity of oil to add to the calorie calculation.

if done properly then generally speaking you'll soak up about 1 tsp of the oil per 4oz of food. the more fat you use the less your going to soak up, the better you maintain the heat the less you'll soak up. home deep frying is way better than fast food because fast food is mostly overcooked and once the food is overcooked the fat just starts rushing in. also if you weigh it the food should come out about the same as when it went in if not a little lighter because of the moisture loss.
