*New Show* Heavy on A&E

Options
Did anybody watch this last night? For anyone looking for motivation, these two people had amazing transformation stories, and changed their bodies through positive lifestyle changes and old fashioned hard work. They also hit on some of the mental and emotional reasons they got to where they were, and it was nice to see the changes we all need to make on the inside as well as the outside to become successful on our journeys. I believe Monday's at 10 will be its regular schedule...it's definitely worth checking out!

I agree! Also on MTV is that "I used to be fat." It goes to show that it is possible with diet and excerisise even in extreme cases!!

I saw it. Could not believe how much that guy lost! Was really astonishing to see them get at it and lose the weight. Really affirmed my desire to be a personal trainer. That and I want the girl trainers guns! lol.

    I liked it.

I loved the fact they showed how people were dealing at home. Home is reality and it helps me to see how they dealt with some of their issues. I think most obese people it isn't about exercise and food, its what's in the brain and how you deal with other's around you.

I have it set to DVR.

I watched it too. That episode really hit home with me, especially with all that's happened this week with my dad and it just reinforces why I'm doing this. If I can inspire, motivate or encourage even one person then I've truly accomplished something and for that I will be grateful.

I agree 100%, Biggest Loser is not the true to life way of doing things. Its great to see the changes people can make, thats's the only thing I like about it. Heavy was much more raw and serious, i loved the premiere and am ready for more.

Not to lose the focus of this show but how in the world does he afford that nice truck if he can't even work?

Also, I love the skull family stickers on the back of Jodi's van...so cute.

I DVR'd it, but I think it's going to be one of my new favorite shows. I worked on a Bariatric unit at one of our local hospitals and saw a beautiful lady go from not being able to move and in bed all day to walking down the hallway. There's something to be said about the will power one must have when they're that heavy. I'm obese, but no where near being that obese and I can't imagine having much more weight on me and being able to get up and exercise or function.

I watched it. It was very motivational and moving. To see them grow and learn where the problem lies. Especially with him and how he started gaining weight as soon as he went home...he had to go back and relearn it...but that time it stuck. I hope they do a show to show how they continue after their show is over. I like the "real" of this show and that it's not a contest (like Biggest Loser).

I also like "I used to be Fat"...it has motivated me to get out there and move. I used to make excuses...now I know that I can do it too!

I wondered that as well. Maybe disability? His family were also really into enabling him, so it might have been provided by them. I watch Intervention sometimes as well and I typically wonder how families of people that are so dependent manage to provide the kind of financial support they do.

I watched it and loved it :) I am definitely adding it to my list of a couple shows I actually care enough to record ;) It seemed much truer to life than some other shows. I wish I could go away for a month and focus solely on my weight-loss! But then they have to work on their own at home and experience real-life. AND, its for a longer period of time, as well, which makes it seem more realistic to me.
Setting my DVR for Monday's at 10:00!

Agreed! They worked hard and pushed through all their problems to get there. The trainers were great and I thought they took the right approach to help both people get where they needed to be. The female trainer's guns were insane, I want them too, haha! I also agree 100% with the person who enjoyed seeing them continue their journey at home. As we have seen on other shows, it is much easier to lose weight in controlled environments. This show is really an eye opener into the struggles everyone faces at home in their natural environment. Even though we each are facing our own issues, it's nice to see people push through a problem and learn to make their life fit into the new goals they're working towards. They made decisions that were tough, but in the end you can tell it was worth it to get the results. Mind blowing transformations, what an inspiration to get up and start working towards our own individual goals!

My guess would be socialism - the new american economic structure.... "Tax credits", ssi, government (i.e. tax-payer) -subsidized housing, cell phones, debit cards, healthcare... all are available for the taking, paid for by those who work. Not to mention you can finance anything these days between car loans, credit cards, payday loans, title pawn, leasing, heloc.... Sorry, I feel the rant starting...

We watched it this morning before coming in to work, and my fiancee, who is hovering at right around 500 pounds started to cry. He didn't want to watch it, he only DVRd it because I wanted him to, and then he had to sit through it. I think it really hit home with him. Maybe this will be the motivation he needs to get started. Right now, he seems to be doing everything opposite of me, as if he's jealous that I'm making an effort to lose weight.
