Has everyone had a breakfast taco before?

Who here doesn't know what a breakfast taco is or has never had one before?

I take it for granted that everyone in the free world knows what they are and love them as much as we do here in Texas, but maybe I'm just a little short sighted here.

Makes me wonder if there are other regional food favorites out there that other parts of the cournrty or world have no idea about.

I would think they are fairly common, especially since McDonald's sausage and egg breakfast burrito is my version of a breakfast taco... I make them at home with added veggies.

ETA: But then again, I did live in Texas for a few years as a kid... :)

I can't even begin to tell you how much I miss breakfast tacos! I lived in Texas for 2/3 of my life and am now in the DC area. NO place around here to get homemade yummy chorizo & egg, or even the cheapo bean & cheese tacos from Taco Cabana.

I could totally make them myself, but with store bought tortillas. :(

But then again, I've heard that McDonalds sometime rserves products regionally. Not many years ago, i ran across some people from New York who didn't know what chicken fried steak was.

Is it a taco in a crunchy shell? If so, I can't say I have had one of those. But I love breakfast burritos - when I have time I make a big batch of them & freeze them. You can reheat in 20-30 seconds in the microwave for a filling warm breakfast!

I've never seen a McDonald's with chicken fried steak! I am from KY, and now live in PA.

Sigh. I moved out of Austin and far above the U.S. taco line almost 20 years ago, and deal with it fairly well with the exception of breakfast tacos. I have a recurring dream that I wake up and the San Marcos Taco Lady's 1985 rehabbed ice cream truck filled with breakfasty beany eggy potatoey chorizoey goodness is parked outside my door.. . .

One of the best things about visiting my sister in Austin is Torchy's Tacos for breakfast! My mouth is watering just thinking about them! Alas, no dice in Central IN.

Hmm...add another New Yorker that has never heard of chicken fried steak? Is it chicken or beef?! LOL!
But...I have heard, and love breakfast burritos! Never had a McD's one, but make my own. Eggs, turkey bacon, cheddar, salsa, yum!

    omg.. I love breakfast tacos.

I grew up on them.. and chorizo! But my friends act like the foods I used to eat all the time are delicacies. lol

I live in TX, too.. my friend lives in Ohio and says that buckeyes are a big thing there but I had never heard of them.

You must be from south Texas. Up here in West Texas we don't know what a breakfast taco is...it's a burrito! That being said, I <3 breakfast burritos. Big ol' mounds of unhealthy fat, grease, and wonder. My favorite is potato, egg, chorizo, and cheese.

Dear God! You don't know what Chicken Fried Steak is? Notice the capitalization. It was no accident. Chicken Fried Steak is a god among southern vittles. You MUST have some next time you get a cheat meal. Divine!

(Best accompanied by green beans or turnip greens, mashed potatoes, white gravy, and yeast rolls)

I work two jobs and the second one is at a restaurant that serves chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken in huge portions with white gravy, texas toast and a choice of two sides. I see sooo many of them and I actually do not like them! :)

The BEST breakfast burritos (tacos) I've ever had were at a race track in El Paso, TX (Sunland Downs). Ugh, so good!

I do believe Chicken Fried Chicken and Chicken Fried Steak are definitely a southern thing. You see them sometimes here in NW Indiana, but not often. Love them both!
