I've seen a lot written on these boards about the 1200 net calorie minimum that everyone is supposed maintain. Is that the minimum for everyone or does this amount vary by height?

I'm only 4'11 and can't see how my minimum caloric intake would/should be the same as someone a foot taller, or even 6 inches taller. MFP has my net intake at 1200. When I don't eat my 1200 net does this impact me in the same way that it does taller people? Since I'm so small does my body need the same magical 1200 calories or can I get away with eating a little be less and still stave off starvation mode?

BTW - I'm pretty new here, so please feel free to add me. :flowerforyou:

No and it does depend on the height, weight and all that good stuff. However there is a 1200min you should try to not eat below this amount or your body can go into starvation mode. Or at least that is what I have picked up from others posting here.
  • I'm 5'4 and my daily intake is 1,350. I think it goes by height and weight or BMI to determine your intake.
