Rate of loss is greater than expected!

According to MFP I will lose an average of 1/2 pound a week if I stick to my calorie limit. But interestingly I lost 2 pounds this week! Admittedly, I put on 1 pound the week before which I think was water weight, so that accounts for some of the loss. But I still lost twice as much as expected!

Has this ever happened to anyone else? And what are your thoughts on the reasons? Obviously I'm over the moon, but I'm wondering if I'm restricting my calories too much :-S I am eating all or most of my exercise calories and sometimes I go over, so I'm doing the zig zag approach, albeit unintentionally! Maybe that's why?

the body is an enigma. the goals of MFP are averages, I would imagine, if you
take a long term view, it will average out. If you continue to lose more then expected,
then it probably means your body has a higher metabolic rate then the estimates
this site uses, either that or you set your activity level too low. If either of these are the case then
I would probably go up in your calories by small amounts, sometimes trial and
error is the only way to get it just right.

    Thanks for the comments

I will see how things go, I set my activity level as sedentary but I do move around a bit at work as I'm a teacher. But then I add in any other exercise I do, like the 30 minute walk to and from work each day, and usually eat these calories. I'd rather underestimate than overestimate, for obvious reasons!

I will see how I go this week, I don't think I'll add in any extra calories yet because, although I'm being quite angelic at the moment, I know there will be weeks I'm not so good!

I do like the idea I might have a fast metabolism though

be careful underestimating, that works fine in the beginning, but as you progress, that can become problimatic, better to be as exact as possible if you can.

Problematic in what sense? Like not getting enough calories annd going into starvation mode? It's difficult to estimate accurately, as some days I move around and some (like today) I just sit at my desk. The site gave nurses as an example of someone who's lightly active, and I'm sure I don't move around as much, being a teacher.
