Ten months ago I started going to therapy for help recovering from eating disorders..it's a long story and maybe I'll share more another time and place.. I've been doing doing very well managing the disordered thinking, feelings and behaviors -so there's the success- and recently I've decided to try to get in shape the healthy way -there's the progress- but I've thought about lowering my calories and adding more workout time, and weighing myself more often -the backslide and now the question- Any one sorta in my boat or have any suggestions on how to diet healthily and not obsessively. I MOST DEFINITELY DON'T want to go back to my old habits but I'm tired of sitting around and doing nothing to help my body. I feel like I'm doing just as much damage to my body by letting myself gain weight as I was when I was losing weight. So, anything would be helpful..even if you've never experienced an eating disorder; however I think those who have will have better insight..

  • Been there, done that. : ) Try not to focus so much on your weight in numbers. Focus on feeling good about yourself for eating healthy and being active. Instead of obsessing about calories or fat, try "obsessing" more on making sure you reaching your nutrient goals for the day-like calcium, iron, fiber, protein, water, etc. Being healthy is a lifelong commitment, so don't get so caught up on the end result. Live for today...one day at a time. It sounds like you are on the right track! Good luck to you!
