ive noticed alot of you have stated it best to weigh yourself in the morning before you eat....is this the most honest time of the day? if i log, is this the weight i should log?....this am the scale said (may as well be honest, im here for support right) 189.4...tonight the scale says 190.9 and its not time to measure yet....what is the best (most honest) time to weight?

Im not sure but i feel better weighing myself in the morning. I think its just more important to weigh yourself at the same time of day each time.

I will only log my morning weight....usually because I like that number better then the number on the scale in the evening however whichever you decide, I think the important thing is using your weight from the same time every day. I don't think that every scale is ever going to be right on but with the same scale at the same time of day, you are honestly logging your loss and gain versus daily fluxuation

during the day you usually gain 2-5 lbs from water weight. You stand up, gravity takes over and whoosh there it goes. At night, you lay down, water moves back out and you pee it out in the morning. Plus, depending on when you eat and when during the day will impact your scale at night. For example, if you make it a point to weigh @ 10pm it can make a big difference if you eat your last meal at 5pm or 8pm. You can weigh whenever you like. For me it's more convienient to do it in the morning. Just be consistent with the time of day, location, and clothing option. Either way, it should all balance out in the long run. 5 lbs lost in the morning is the same as 5 lost at night. Just a personal preference.

It's because its the most consistent and allows for the least amount of variables- try to go the the bathroom 1st too-- water, sodium, cheese- all of these and more can create "fake" or "bloaty" weight, which is why u wait until the morning (where your body has had 6-8 hrs to digest without new food) . It will give you weights you can compare accurately. Just keep in mind that it is the "bottom" of your weight range.

It is important that if you are going to weigh yourself and track you need to do it at the same time every day. It is true that in the morning you weigh less than at night because you have fasted for 8+ hours and have evacuated a lot of fluids in that time. So there is not a time during the day when you are at an "honest weight" just be sure to be consistent as to what time you weigh and track.

I have always been told "weigh in in the morning, when your stomach is empty." I make sure I finish eating by 8pm each night. [After 8 your body slows down and it's harder to process the food] I also make sure I get in plenty of sleep and I don't eat or drink anything after going to bed or before weighing in. This logically seems right to me as by then, my body should have processed all the food/water I had from the previous day. That weight, before you eat or drink anything, is what I've been taught is your "true weight". Weighing yourself at the end of the day seems like it would be the equivalent of getting on the scale while holding a shopping bag of food.
