Appropriate Caloric intake

I need some advice from those who have been on the program a while and experiencing success. My plan says I need 1430 Calories per day to lose 2lbs per week. Today, I will end about 250 calories shy and once I add my exercise it will be more than that. Is it bad to come in short? Does it do something to your metabolism? Isn't the goal to eat to enough to fuel the body and to feel satiated? What are the cons of eating less that what is recommended by the program. Trust me when I say I am pretty hefty so being short to me seems like a good thing. Am I wrong? Thanks to all for your sage advice.
