i have been logging my breakfasts and my dinners on sunday for the whole week going ahead after i plan our family dinner menu (i eat the same breakfast every day so i just add my fruit once i know what i'm having that day)....

each day after i pack my lunch box with lunch and snacks/fruit, i add that in too....before i have even started my day i know/SEE exactly where i am for the day....i see if i have room to have additional snacks/treats.....

since i wear a HRM for my workouts i dont like to enter those estimates until after i have actually done the workout, BUT i do know that i aim to burn between 300-800 calories on any given day......

when i see that i have the right amount of calories in the bank for a good day before i even add my exercise it makes me happy and looking forward to my day.....

today i was "overjoyed" lol to see i still have 20 calories left of my 1440 with all my foods added in for "5" meals (dont have after dinner snack in yet but probably wont have anything as i'm going to the Y tonight for a workout at 830 so there wont be much time after dinner or before bed for too much of anything - maybe a clementine or two in the car on the way home)....

anyway, i just wanted to make a suggestion for anyone who is willing to try this....if you dont have the chance to plan out your dinners for the week then just do one day...decide today what you are having for tomorrow's meals...enter all the food into your diary and see where the day takes you....decide how many calories you want to burn today for tomorrow so you have a TRUE estimate for your day....push yourself to make that goal and have an awesome thursday because you were successful in your attempt.....

good luck and let me know how it works out....

Yes, it works for me, too. Even when I eat out, I try to guess what food might be offered, so I can see ahead of time how many calories the food offered has.

I always pre-plan my days. It makes it so much easier to stay on track. Sometimes I have impulse "eats" that make me adjust, but when I have a plan, I tend to follow it.

I also do this. After breakfast I log what I ate and plan the rest of my day. If we do go out I also try to plan for what I will eat..this way I don't get carried away once I'm there.

That's what I do every Sat/Sun...plan out all my meals for the next week. It really does help to keep on track. Like if I know a dinner is calorie heavy I can plan out filling but lower calorie snacks/meals to have that day. :)

I usually log all of my exercise at one time (I work out at least 2x day)~when I get home from work or school I don't always feel like exercising. If I've already logged it and see how many more cals I get to eat, I feel obligated to do it!

I pre-log my exercise in the morning so that I'm forced to do it when I get home from work. It is really, really effective.
