I've entered all the food that I have planned to eat for the day today and, as you can see, I am well below the 1,200 calories I should be taking in daily and my protein is a little on the light side as well. I usually don't have a problem with consuming my calories or my protein but for some reason today seems to be tough. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I know I can do more for dinner so that's really where I'm looking for the help.

Please keep in mind that I do not eat beef or pork and I don't have any protein powder handy. Thanks!!

  • I used to struggle with protein a lot myself. I've found that boneless/skinless chicken breasts are extremely versatile and a tasty addition to any meal. Adding it to the pasta will almost create a chicken parmigiana deal. Also, maybe add some low sodium tuna fish or another type of lean meat to lunch. These add the protein but not tons of calories :) I like little protein shakes for a boost sometimes as well. It gives me something chocolate, something sweet but a good bit of protein and a low carb count as well as a low sugar count. Best of luck to you!!

Just eat more of what you have there for dinner, the Lasagna things have protein.
What about adding protein or chickpeas to your salad?

Add some chopped almonds to your salad, and drink a glass of low fat milk. Milk is the EASIEST way to add some healthy calories and protein to your day, and it helps you stay full!
  • How about a cheese stick? Pre-packaged ones are usually 80-110 calories each depending on what kind of cheese.

Thanks for the suggestions! I added a chicken breast to dinner and that did the trick. LOL

prashley, just saw your suggestion of drinking low-fat milk. I'm going to add that to my snacks and see if that gets my calories over 1,200 (I'm exercising tonight so I don't mind going over).

    Thanks a bunch!
