Does anyone have suggestions for wild game? We have a freezer full of elk (both ground and steaks) and I'm an amateur at preparing anything with it! All I do now is sub it in for ground beef!

all my husband will eat is elk or game of some kind he hunted! I have made the ground with a can of roasted chilis, a half a packet of liptons onion soup mix. Its got a lot of sodium so be careful. Its the only thing I have found that masks the gamey taste. and the steaks are the same liptons soup mix.....Im curious to see who else replies! This is a great topic!! Do you have any roasts?

golden cream of mushroom soup and the elk put it in a pot with small red potatoes and slow cook it all day and throw in any veggies yah want. make sure to put on low and it will fall apart. You can add lipton onion soup mix too

Marinade the Elk Steaks in EVOO and Sea Salt and Fresh Cracked Black pepper for an hour or two... let it rest outside the fridge in room temperature. Grill to NO MORE than medium over hot coals. Simple, but better than Mooo Steaks!!
  • Here's a thread I saw awhile back that had a few good recipes in it for deer. I've never prepared elk, but I hear it is similar.

We do have some roasts, I usually just throw those in the crock pot.

Elk is a waste of your time trying to cook,,,,,,,,,,,,, just send it to me and I will suffer thru eating it :) I fix my wild game just like any other beef dish, just make sure you don't over cook it.
