Hi, this is my first time trying something like this. I am 6' with a normal sized frame. In high school I was always fairly skinny, but in college I developed a ravenous appetite. As often times happens, my metabolism slowed but my appetite did not. I was probably in my best shape my second year in college, weighing in at around 174 with decent muscle mass and a size 33 waist.
I entered law school in 2003, weighing about 190-195. Although this was already overweight, I was able to work out and maintain a physique that did not appear overweight. However, I graduated law school in 2006 weighing about 205, still acceptable for business wear at my frame but definitely entering the high end of overweight in the BMI scale.
After working as an attorney in a large law firm for about 4.5 years, I now weigh around 218-220.
My primary goal is to return to the 205 weight-class where I left law school, so that at the very minimum, in that cliche infomercial sense, I can fit back into my old clothes again. This is why I signed up with myfitnesspal, which has told me that to lose 2 lbs of weight a week, I have to restrict my diet to 1480 calories a day, given my sedentary lifestyle. I hope to incorporate more exercise so that the caloric restrictions are not quite so tight.
My greatest weaknesses in controlling my appetite are
1) I have an exceptionally high appreciation for great food and drink. I love to cook, in quantities greater than I need, and I have really gotten caught up in the foodie culture that has been developing over the last decade or so. I love cooking rich, fatty foods like southern-style barbecue or a creamy italian risotto.
2) I like the feeling of being FULL. It takes an extraordinary amount of discipline for me to stop eating at that "satisfied" stage.
I'm really into the "infotainment" type of thing--fascination with learning and trying new things. I tend to perform best in games or in competitions that I find interesting and fun. I hope to use myfitnesspal and other weight loss tools to try and make this shedding of pounds a game that results in a permanent weight loss outcome.
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
