Low Carb Nightmare

So I am not a fan of Atkins or any other extreme Low Carb diet. I know that it's not a permanent fix and I actually have no trouble eating healthily without a restricting diet. Here's my dilemma.

My fiance wants to lose a little weight before our wedding in April. He has only ever had success with the Atkins diet. This is mostly because he has a lot of trouble controlling himself around any food. Even when I have plenty of healthy options at the house, he'll go out for Wendy's for lunch instead. He needs structure and Atkins has worked before so he's doing it again. I made the mistake (?) of agreeing to do Induction with him for 2 weeks. As a way of supporting him and helping him to succeed.

My problem? I have made it a habit to eat healthy foods. Fruits, grains, legumes and dairy. I cannot have any of these things for the next 2 weeks. I've been on this diet for 2 days and I can't get my caloric intake over 900 calories. And I'm eating string cheese like it's going out of style.

Someone who is on low carb or knows something about it.. please help! I know I don't have to count calories, but right now, I'm basically starving myself. I don't want to cheat and only eat low carb when he's around, and he has said that I don't have to do it... but I feel like I made a commitment and I want to go through with it... I just want to be healthy about it.

I need ideas for snacks and for low carb/HIGH calorie meal options.

Thanks guys in advance!!

If I can't work this out, I will have to give up before I do any damage to my metabolism.

After tons of research (and seminars) on this subject, suffice it to say that I'm not a fan of a low carb diet. A well rounded diet made up of healthy food, lean proteins, and quality carbs and fats is the only way to go.

YOu can still support him without eating the same things that he does. My husband is doing low carb because it works for him. I like to be able to eat a variety of foods. We still eat together, but we each eat the things that we want to eat.

I've lost weight quickly on an atkins type diet before and managed to keep most of it off when I went back to eating carbs, but it wasn't a long term diet for me.
I wasn't counting calories back then, but I found it difficult to find things to eat as well. Nuts and cheese were the only snack foods I could come up with. There are a few veggies that are ok as well.
Just alot of meat and cheese as far as meals go. You have to give your body enough fat so that it knows its not straving, so you really have to try to give up on what you would normally eat in a healthy diet hahhaa.
It got to a point where all I could think about was food. hmm what else can I eat?
I got to be a pain in the butt to eat.. everything was salty and the diet got boring quick.
    Good luck :)

Thanks guys. So the concensus is that low carb sucks. That's helpful. I think I will definitely weigh my options. I don't think I can survive on this diet.

It's true that I can support him other ways. I'll just eat low carb with him and eat normally the rest of the time. We only eat together a few times a week anyway. I just felt like I was cheating. Oh well. I have to do what works for me.

    Thanks everyone!
