Anyone know how to read a Sportline heart rate monitor?

I bought a Sportline heart rate monitor, it wears like a wrist watch. I used it tonight to track calories burned for the first time at Zumba. It's showing me the time I worked out on top, and then below that it says CA, across from the CA is 1024. Does that mean I just burned 1024 calories???

Do you know the model number? I just did a google search and they have the manuals available online so it should be easy to figure out. Did you get instructions with it? I would recommend going through those and/or doing a google search and checking it out.

It's a Sportline S7...the instructions are not very clear. After looking them over and over, I figured it does mean that's what I burned. Thanks "shreddingit!"
  • I have the same HRM. Make sure you are checking your heart rate regularly during your workout so you can have better accuracy. To check your heart rate, simply take your index finger and hold the button/sensor until it shows your heart rate. Just make sure you do that regularly. Congrats!!!

Thank Molly! I did do that about 10 times during my workout. It only gave me a reading about 4x though. I tried placing it in different spots on my wrist, not sure why it was't reading a heart rate...was holding that button down for a while....
  • I have the same problem. Sometimes it wont read/take my heart rate. I made the watch tighter on my wrist and that seemed to help.
  • They are impossible to read I'm going to try and get my money back

Yes, it is telling you that you burned 1024 calories.

That was also my first HRM. It told me all kinds of stories. Like that I burned 700+ calories doing 30 minutes of elliptical. Unfortunately, it was hugely inaccurate. My first plateau was due to believing the numbers the Sportline S7 gave me. I was eating back my exercise calories and inadvertently overeating due to the inflated number the HRM gave me. Turns out, I really only burn ~200 at most for 30 minutes on the elliptical.
  • I've had my sportline for 3 years never could figure out and ran out of battery quick. Today I put in a new battery looked up instructions but nothing and nowhere explained what the CA meant not one section now I'm confused and really wanted something that could measure my calories burned! It's a bluish gray sportline with the number 3636 on the back. What does it mean?
