vitamin c

do you think its okay to go over on your vitamin c intake? im fighting a cold and trying to get rid of it quickly so i can bust out my workout w more gusto, but notice my vit c #'s keep showing up red....wanted to make sure i wasnt hurting myself in the process...

    i take 10000 units of vitamin c per day no harm my doc says....

    Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin so any excess your body can't use will come out in your urine. If you pee highlighter yellow, you know you're getting more then your body can use. If that's the case, I'd cut back on the supplements just to save a little money. No point in spending good money on something you're not using, ya know. If you aren't losing it in your urine, though, you're not taking in more then your body can use. The only exception to this rule is if you are prone to kidney stones. Excess vitamin C can be a contributing factor.
