... I fall and fracture my tail bone
Last week I slipped on ice and fell down some stairs, hitting my tail bone along the way. I went to work all weekend and the pain was getting worse so I had it X-rayed and surprise surprise it's broken. Unfortunately there is no way to treat a broken tail bone. I have been told to let it rest, take it easy, and go back for a follow up to start seeing a chiropractor.
However, I have just started on MFP and am pretty happy with how I've been motivated to eat right and start exercising. Now what do I do?!?
Has anyone out there worked out with a broken/sore tail bone or even any lower back problems? I need ideas for workouts. I can only sit on my side, I can not lay on my back, I can walk, but I can not run.
HELP!!!!

I know, I'm stuck at the same place, hurt my ankle 2 weeks ago. I've just been watching my calories since I can't exercise. And I was really looking forward to a gym membership again, since I'm back in school this semester I'll get a discount at the gym on campus.... I am still entertaining the thought of some weight training until its better and I can go back to cardio, but I won't be able to spare any money until my next paycheck anyway....0

Don't get too discouraged...remember that a LOT of your results will come from your diet and eating habits rather than just exercise! Take this down time to rest your body so you can heal, get all sorts of nutrients from good fresh foods, & educate yourself on nutrition in the time you'd be running or exercising- that way when it's time to get back to the physical stuff you'll have the diet part of the equation mastered!!! Good Luck & feel better!!0

Have you tried 'google' search or looked on youtube for exercises ideas? ...best wishes though and a speedy recovery xo0

Dang!! Sorry to hear about this. Try just walking a little faster for the time being. Or if the pain is not to much, try dancing around to stimulate the cardio. I wish I could help more, but I have not been in this situation.0

Ouch! I would focus on healing right now. Walk as long as it's comfortable and maybe you could lift weight for your upper body so that you are burning calories that way.0

If I were you I would keep with MFP and watching what you eat 90% of weight loss is diet anyway, and maybe do some upper body stuff just so you are still devoting time to your physical well being each day, and if that's not comfortable either, maybe still set aside the time and imagine that you are working out. I know that sounds silly but studies show that when people preform a workout in their imagination (like a mental movie) they still get some of the benefits from working out, and at least you would be still staying on your path of devoting time to yourself each day while you heal so you don't get out of the habit.0

my mom walks an hour a day outside and has lost 30 pounds by being faithful to her calorie count and her walks. good luck!0

Look online for exercise you can do with fitness bands in a seated/laying position. It's more strength training that cardio work, but if you just want to feel as if you are continuing to progress in your change of lifestyle, then it's worth looking into while you're healing. The biggest thing is paying attention to your eating habits and making sure you stay on track with your caloric intake.0

So sorry to hear about this you must be gutted.
What about swimming? The support the water gives your body might help - and you could just use your arms and let your legs trail behind you in the water - at least you dont have to sit or stand!0 -
I broke my tail bone giving birth about 9 years ago. It was very painful. I mainly just walked. I knew I couldn't jog or do anything high impact, so an hour walk at a gentle pace every night kept me going. Just take it easy and do what is comfortable for you. Hope you get feeling better.0

If you can walk you can still get a little workout. Just remember to listen to your body. Stop and rest, maybe break it up, 10 min in the morn, 10 in the sfternoon, 10 in the evening. Try and do some strength, if you can sit up comfortably, do some boxing moves of do it standing. I know it's hard but you can do it. Most importantly stay with in your calories, greater part of our weight loss success is what we eat. Keep us posted and I wish you a speedy recovery and much success.0

I dislocated mine when I was younger (no, I didn't know that was possible either!) so I have a good idea as to what sort of pain you're in and how frustrating it is! Just be careful whatever you are going to try, whether it be arm work - lifting some light weights for example, or something else, to do it in a supportive chair or in a supported position and be very careful not to wrench your back. I hope it heals quickly for you.0

I second the recommendation to use the water. Even if you are just walking in the water, the buoyancy of the water will help keep the weight off of your tail bone, which should make the exercise less painful.
Best of luck as you heal. I think with tail bone injuries, all you can do is let time do its thing....unfortunately.
