How about squats with bad knees. I feel like I am bailing because I can't squat very low0

thank you for the article on squats, I am into squats bc I ride my bike and the squats really help strengthen my thighs. I have a bad left knee and I don't do lunges bc they cause me pain. After viewing the 1st article I will be aiming for a much deeper squat I didn't know it was safe to go that low. My new goal will be *kitten* to the grass I like that.0

I have a bad knee as well. I have been going to physio about it but she hasn't said anything about squats being bad for them either. (I believe I hurt mine doing jui-jitsu). The best way to prevent bad knees is by strengthening the supporing muscles. Squats are obviously great for this. I also do VMO activation work for my lazy VMO. Remember squatting, to push your knees out and your knees shouldn't go too much infront of your toes.0

As far as knees go, squats affect my knees less than any other quad exercise. The Leg extensions are the worst. I had to reduce weight significantly once I discovered *kitten* to the grass squatting, The Doms are severe but worth it.0
